Meet Joelli Wahlig, EdS, PLPC

Joelli graduated from Lindenwood University with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice before continuing her education at Southeast Missouri State University, where she earned both her Master’s and Specialist degrees in Counseling. Her educational background allows her to approach counseling with a strong foundation in advocacy, empathy, and understanding the complex systems that impact individuals and families.

Joelli is a Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor (PLPC) currently working toward full licensure. In addition to her work at The Healing Academy, she is a full-time middle school counselor at Jackson Middle School, supporting students ages 10 to 12 through academic, social, and emotional challenges. This role has strengthened her ability to meet clients where they are, build trust quickly, and provide developmentally appropriate support. Joelli is currently offering counseling services to clients of all ages.

Joelli’s counseling approach is primarily grounded in Client-Centered Therapy. She believes that you are the expert on your own life, and her role is to walk alongside you with compassion and curiosity. She strives to create a collaborative and supportive space by offering encouragement, asking thoughtful questions, and helping clients recognize and build upon their own strengths. Clients can expect a genuine, respectful, and nonjudgmental experience where they feel heard, valued, and supported.

Outside of counseling, Joelli enjoys spending time outdoors, especially camping with friends and family. As the youngest of six siblings, there is never a shortage of family events! In her downtime, she loves reading, going for walks, and unwinding after a long day by snuggling with her cat, Nova.
